Software frameworks for integral equations in electromagnetic scattering based on Calderón identities

چکیده
In recent years there have been tremendous advances in the theoretical understanding of boundary integral equations for Maxwell problems. In particular, stable dual pairings of discretisation spaces have been developed that allow robust formulations of the preconditioned electric field, magnetic field and combined field integral equations. Within the BEM++ boundary element library we have developed implementations of these frameworks that allow an intuitive formulation of the typical Maxwell boundary integral formulations within a few lines of code. The basis for these developments is an efficient and robust implementation of Calderón identities together with a product algebra that hides and automatesmost technicalities involved in assemblingGalerkin boundary integral equations. In this paper we demonstrate this framework and use it to derive very simple and robust software formulations of the standard preconditioned electric field, magnetic field and regularised combined field integral equations for Maxwell. © 2017 The Author(s). Simulation of Surface Plasmon Excitation in a Plasmonic Nano-Wire Using Surface Integral Equations
In this paper, scattering of a plane and monochromatic electromagnetic wave from a nano-wire is simulated using surface integral equations. First, integral equationsgoverning unknown fields on the surface is obtained based on Stratton-Cho surface integral equations. Then, the interaction of the wave with a non-plasmonic as well as a palsmonic nano-wire is considered. It is shown that in scatter...
متن کاملA Calderón Preconditioner for the Electric Field Integral Equation With Layered Medium Green’s Function
A Calderón preconditioner is developed for the analysis of electromagnetic scattering of perfect electrically conducting (PEC) objects embedded in a layered medium. The electric field integral equation (EFIE) is formulated with the kernel of layered medium Green’s function to account for the effects from the multilayered background. The Calderón projector is derived based on the general source-...
متن کاملWell-conditioned boundary integral equation formulations for the solution of high-frequency electromagnetic scattering problems
We present several versions of Regularized Combined Field Integral Equation (CFIER) formulations for the solution of three dimensional frequency domain electromagnetic scattering problems with Perfectly Electric Conducting (PEC) boundary conditions. Just as in the Combined Field Integral Equations (CFIE), we seek the scattered fields in the form of a combined magnetic and electric dipole layer ...
متن کاملTheory of block-pulse functions in numerical solution of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind
Recently, the block-pulse functions (BPFs) are used in solving electromagnetic scattering problem, which are modeled as linear Fredholm integral equations (FIEs) of the second kind. But the theoretical aspect of this method has not fully investigated yet. In this article, in addition to presenting a new approach for solving FIE of the second kind, the theory of both methods is investigated as a...
متن کاملSimulation of Light-Nanowire Interaction in the TE Mode Using Surface Integral Equations
In this paper, the scattering of a plane monochromatic electromagnetic wave from a nanowire with circular cross-section in the transverse electric (TE) mode is simulated using the well-known Stratton-Chu surface integral equations. For an ordinary dielectric nanowire the refraction phenomenon is nicely simulated. In the case of a plasmonic nanowire no sign of surface plasmon excitation and prop...
